Selling cars, buying suitcases

This little favorite ”lilla Blå” will now (hopefully) be sold at a car auction. With a small tear in my eye, I have said goodbye and hope that a really nice person now will take care of this little gem. 🚙

So for the last days in Sweden, we welcome the Suger cube – he is a well behaved rental.

I, Elvira, Olle and his friend Oliver have just come home from a trip to Röjeråsen, close to Rättvik in Dalarna.

Starting to miss them already 😻😻

Count down…

We have as from today an actual date to relate to. Our flight tickets are booked to New York City for the 21st of July!! ✈️

A good bye present from my sweet colleagues. My last day at work is Friday, July 1.

TO-DO LIST

  • Contact tax authorities and Insurance Agency in Sweden
  • Get an appointment at the Family Welcome Center in NYC
  • Get four more suitcases…

Even though we have planned this for over two years, it feels so sudden to know that we are actually moving. There are so many friends and relatives I want to see “one last time” before we go, and it feels so good to know we have lots of dinners and dates booked for the weeks ahead. And also already hung out with friends, co-workers and close family.❤️

Finally – the Fully Signed Lease Agreement!

It has been a somewhat anxious period in wating for this agreement, and just now we recieved a 25 pages long contract for the renting of this wonderful apartment!! So, finally we can start our search for schools for Olle and Elvira for real. But still we need to visit the “District 2 Family Welcome Center” in person, so now there is an urge to book the plane tickets within shortly.

Last Friday, after graduation 🙂 Now these two kids will have a loooong summer break before they meet their new challenges!

The #1 post! Still in Sweden

So… finally we are actually on our way! I thought it would be nice to have a blog, a way of sharing what is going on over there (or here!). The ambition is to post little stories and some pictures once in a while. Writing in English, if someone outside Sweden wants to read. 😊

Heading for the United States, to New York City and even to Manhattan! It took us two years from the first idea of moving the little family, consisting of two parents, me Lisa and my husband Johan along with our two youngest children out of four, Olle and Elvira to the big Apple. Just when we thought we had it all under control, the pandemic started to ravage and it made it impossible to even get our Visas.

We obtained our approved Visas after loooooads of paper work, interviews, documentation etc etc after a final appointment at the American Ambassy in Stockholm in March.

The main reason (which is the one and only reason for us having this amazing opportunity to relocate to NYC) is Johan´s upcoming achievement in staffing their US company DanAds Inc.

So we all know what Johan is supposed to do once we have settled in our gorgeous Condo in Soho, but what about the rest of the gang!? When Johan strolls to his office in midtown, Olle will find his new way to high school and Elvira finds hers to middle school. But – since you need a residential address before you can be admitted to a school, we just now have started looking for good educational places nearby and are hopeful of getting the kids enrolled.

For me, the main task in the beginning is to make sure Olle and Elvira land well in their new schools – and of course in general. Below some pictures of the kids, cats, girlfriend and me and Johan.

Bye for now, post you soon!
